Dipotassium Glycyrrhizate (DPG for short) is an active ingredient extracted from the root of the legume licorice (Glycyrrhizauralensis Fisch.). In general, licorice is mainly divided into three categories: licorice, licorice, and licorice (also known as licorice).

Dipotassium glycyrrhizate exists in these three kinds of licorice, and another common licorice extract, licorice, only exists in licorice. Whitening

Dipotassium glycyrrhizate can inhibit the production of melanin. In the experimental study, the back skin of guinea pigs. Under UVB irradiation, the skin pretreated with 0.5% dipotassium glycyrrhizinate had a higher whiteness coefficient (L value) than the skin of the control group. Significantly, the experimental results show that dipotassium glycyrrhizate has a significant inhibitory effect on melanin production, which can be used to prevent skin pigmentation and melanin production after sun exposure, and is a potential skin whitening agent.

Anti-inflammatory and anti-allergic

Dipotassium glycyrrhizate acts on hormone receptors on cell membranes, affects ion channels, activates or inhibits enzyme activity, regulates substance metabolism and cholinergic nerve excitability, thereby reducing the permeability of capillary walls and cell membranes , achieve the purpose of reducing inflammatory exudation, and inhibit the formation and release of histamine and other toxic substances, so as to play a good anti-inflammatory effect.

Both the EU Cosmetics Directive and the Cosmetic Ingredient Review (CIR) panel have determined that dipotassium glycyrrhizinate is safe and non-toxic as an OTC personal care product additive.

EWG's Skin Deep Cosmetic Database (Environmental Working Group - US Environmental Working Group Cosmetic Database) rates dipotassium glycyrrhizinate on a scale of 1 to 10, where 1 is the lowest risk to skin health and 10 is the highest risk.
