Product Description

Resveratrol is a kind of polyphenol antioxidant, which mainly exists in grapes, berries, peanuts and other fruits. It is a disease resistant toxin secreted by plants and used to fight against external pressures such as trauma, bacteria, infection, and ultraviolet light. It can be said to be the guardian spirit of plants. In particular, resveratrol is famous worldwide because of a French Paradox discussion in the 1990s. At that time, it was believed that the reason why French people who eat high-fat food are not easy to suffer from cardiovascular disease is that resveratrol is contained in the red wine they often drink.

Since then, resveratrol has been continuously found to have potential benefits for health, including anti-aging, anti diabetes, anti-cancer, anti dementia, etc., but most of them are still animal studies, and relevant human validation is still insufficient. Resveratrol is generally divided into cis isomers and trans isomers, but trans isomers are relatively stable (the most common in nature), and many effects are only seen in trans isomers (such as regulating inflammatory pathways and anti proliferation). Therefore, resveratrol has become the mainstream of current health care ingredients and also the main research target.

1. Regulating blood sugar is beneficial to patients with diabetes

Diabetes is the most common chronic disease, but it is also the easiest to prevent. But because of this, people often take it lightly. The biggest problem of suffering from diabetes is arteriosclerosis. In addition to significantly increasing the probability of myocardial infarction and stroke, if it affects renal microvessels, it will further lead to renal failure, Therefore, how to control blood sugar is vital (in the United States alone, 70000 people die from complications of diabetes every year).
In a small study, it was found that taking resveratrol (150 mg daily for 30 consecutive days, a patent ingredient of DSM resVida) for overweight people could improve their blood glucose (by 4.2%) and insulin concentration (by 13.7%).

A recent integrated analysis also found (including 11 studies involving 388 people) that resveratrol can improve fasting blood glucose, insulin, and glycosylated hemoglobin in patients with diabetes. The study also mentioned that the improvement effect of these blood glucose markers was not found in non diabetes patients.

2. Resveratrol and weight loss

According to the estimate of the World Health Organization, 2.3 billion people are overweight (people over 15 years old), and 700 million people have reached the obesity standard.

The risks of obesity include: type II diabetes, cardiovascular disease, hypertension, hyperlipidemia and increased incidence of various cancers.

A systematic review (including 7 studies involving 208 participants) pointed out that for overweight subjects, oral resveratrol had no significant effect on weight management, reducing adipose tissue and abdominal obesity (however, the only positive result was that resveratrol could reduce inflammation markers (IL-6)).
The researchers believe that weight loss is a gradual process. Considering the limitations of too small sample size, heterogeneity, and too short experimental period (mostly less than 90 days), further confirmation is still needed in the future

3. Reduce the risk of cardiovascular disease

Cardiovascular disease, generally known as heart disease, is mainly caused by hypoxia of heart tissue caused by insufficient blood flow. The reason why cardiovascular disease is terrible is that most of the time there are no symptoms, and once it occurs, the mortality rate is as high as 30%, which is unexpected.

Among them, coronary heart disease (i.e. angina pectoris and myocardial infarction) is the most common one, which is common in men aged 40 to 60 years, and mostly occurs in women after the age of 50. In addition, in a double-blind controlled study (75 samples, one year of experiment), taking resveratrol can not only significantly improve a variety of inflammatory factors, including C-reactive protein (CRP), tumor necrosis factor (TNF- α）， It can also reduce the factor causing thrombosis: plasminogen activator inhibitor type 1 (PAI-1), or may be used as the gold ingredient for preventing cardiovascular disease.

4. Improve cognitive function (may contribute to dementia)

Generally, there is more than one aging path for the brain. After aging, if the physical and mental conditions are normal, the cognitive function usually begins to decline after the age of 80. The other path is related to dementia, which is characterized by the destruction of brain cells, and it is easy to cause memory and cognitive impairment after a long time, even unable to take care of their own lives.

The most common type of senile dementia is: the main pathological feature of Alzheimer's disease is the accumulation of beta amyloid protein outside the nerve cells, which causes cell dysfunction and necrosis. 5. Beneficial to senile macular degeneration

Choroidal neovascularization is the most complex complication of macular degeneration (wet lesions). These new abnormal vessels often lead to macular edema, retinal pigment epithelial cell degeneration and even retinal detachment. If not treated in time, blindness will be the most serious. VEGF inhibitor of vascular endothelial growth factor is the main therapy for wet macular lesions, which can slow down abnormal angiogenesis and visual deterioration.

In a preliminary study, it was found that resveratrol has the effect of inhibiting vascular endothelial growth factor VEGF and slowing down choroidal neovascularization (by the inflammatory hormone TGF- β Or tissue hypoxia), which may improve the disease process of macular degeneration.

In addition, other small studies also found that resveratrol (after taking it for 1 hour) helped to increase choroidal thickness (increase blood flow, and reduce the probability of macular degeneration) compared with the placebo group. However, up to now, no research has directly confirmed the relationship between resveratrol and age-related
macular degeneration, so it needs to be further confirmed.

6. Extend animal life

So far, the scientific community believes that the most effective way to prolong human life is to limit the daily calorie intake by 20-40% through calorie restriction. However, under the condition of balanced nutrition, in many studies, various species that limit calorie intake also show that they can significantly prolong their life (up to 60%). Although long-term research on human beings has not yet been published, preliminary evidence can confirm that the results should be consistent.

In a 6-month human study, it was found that following the calorie restriction diet can reduce a variety of life related values, including insulin levels, body temperature, DNA damage, and help reduce the incidence of metabolic syndrome, cardiovascular disease, and cancer. Resveratrol has been found in some studies that the mechanism of disease resistance and life extension is similar to that of calorie restriction (it can activate sirtuin 1 longevity gene).

Therefore, in an animal control study (both groups were fed high calorie food), it was found that resveratrol fed experimental rats could significantly improve survival rate and reduce mortality by 31% (in addition, it had the effects of increasing insulin sensitivity, lowering blood glucose, increasing mitochondrial productivity, improving mobility, etc.). However, the effect of resveratrol on human life extension has not been determined, so it remains to be confirmed by more large-scale and well-designed studies in the future.

Ulcerative colitis is a kind of inflammatory bowel disease.
